Stopped at Wave for an inspection sticker to our family car. The wipers on the car are exactly six months old, I usually change them in the spring or summer. But for this particular set I have a receipt that shows date of purchase. I was surprised when they told me I needed new ones and then when our car didn't pass the inspection after I refused to buy new ones from them.
The owner told me the car needed wipers and would sell me new ones but when I declined, the owner was visibly upset said something under his breath as he walked by me.
I understand safety is important, but the wipers are exactly six months old and our car is usually just parked in our driveway. I know the wipers aren't new, but they are definitely not worn to unsafe levels to have our car fail the inspection.
I've been around cars for a while and have NEVER failed and inspection or heard of anyone failing an inspection because of wipers. It just feels like they were taking advantage and trying to make an extra $20 specially after the owner got upset when I declined to buy wipers from them.
While I was waiting for the inspection to finish a girl came in with a problem on work they did on her car and sure enough the owner already told her it's probably due to something else, not what was replaced and they will need to take a look. Have you ever been to a repair shop that will replace something different every time you come back for a related car issue? all different components that may or may not need to be replaced??... Also, when I arrived, there was someone already there and the mechanic found something wrong with his car. They pressured him to put a down payment on work they were going to do tomorrow. English was not the guy’s first language and he was reluctant to put down the money but finally agreed. I've never had to put down any money on repair work that has not yet started.
I didn't go back to wave for a re-test because they are dishonest and do not want anything else to do with this place. I usually check reviews but this time I thought I would just get the sticker and go across the street to market basket. This is the worst service I've come across in a long time, this is the kind of place you hear stories about and the kind of place your dad would warn you about.
