This is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in Marshfield. It is the perfect combination of very good food, generous portions, reasonable prices in an inviting and comfortable setting. The owner, Mike Pavone, has created a warm and friendly atmosphere. You immediately feel like he and his staff are really glad to see you. The service as a result is exceptional. The atmosphere is more casual chic than elegant romantic. I love that the seating is spacious, unlike other restaurants where customers sit on top of each other and you can't get up and walk without asking people to move. The food is delicious. I am a big fan of the special "prime cut burger" which I believe is ground fresh from select cuts of prime rib, sirloin and tenderloin. Not always on the menu, each time it is it is presented with different accompaniments. No matter, it is always, large, juicy, and delicious. While this is a spacious restaurant with ample seating, it is becoming very popular. I suggest you get there early or call for reservations.
Mike, the manager, is atrocious! I met my friend at Station Eight tonight (Wednesday night) at 5:30 p.m., after attending a wake. We were planning on meeting two other friends that were also at the same wake. Unfortunately, when we walked in, all but one of the high top tables were removed because there was a function. There was only ONE high top table available, by the front door. My friend and I walked up to the hostess stand by the front door and asked girls standing at the hostess stand if we could sit at the empty high top table. They politely deferred us to their manager. When the "manager" (I later found out his name is Mike) came over, I asked if we could sit at the empty high top table. He asked how many were going to be in our party. I informed him that there would be four of us. He said that the table was reserved for parties of eight or more and STORMED OFF. (Mind you-this was a WEDNESDAY night at 5:30!!!) I was shocked, to say the least, especially since I WAS a regular at Station Eight. In disbelief, I told the girls at the hostess stand that I thought it was ridiculous that the restaurant would turn away a party of four that was ready to eat and drink right now, in the hopes of getting a party of eight (at 5:30 p.m. on a Wednesday) to fill the table. My bewilderment fell on deaf ears. My friends and I ended up going to K Katie's next door and had a fabulous time. There was only one problem-my car was valeted at Station Eight. So...three hours later, I gave the valet person my ticket. He told me it would be about 5 minutes until he brought me my car because they had parked my car across the street. I ran inside to Station Eight to go to the bathroom. Then, I walked up to the hostess stand and saw two of the three girls I saw three hours prior. I politely asked them if the high top table had been filled that night. One of them informed me, "No, not really. The band sat there for a little." Then, the other girl said, "Would you like to speak to my manager?" Thinking that it was a different manager I said, "Sure." The same "manager" that told me my party of four could not sit there earlier came over in a sweaty huff. He was disheveled and and extremely confrontational. I said, "Hi. I was in here earlier and wanted to sit at that high top table over there. You told me that I couldn't because we didn't have enough people. I was wondering if anyone sat at that table tonight?" He cut me off and said rudely, "When you left, we sat people at that table." I said, " Yes, I heard you sat the band." Mike replied, "They were paying customers!" and then stormed off in a huff. (BTW-when I walked in, there were TWO band members on stage. I looked the band up on the Station Eight website and it appears that there may have been only Anthony Geraci and one other member of "the band" that Mike was referring to...Mike, the manager, sat TWO people of the band at the table of eight and turned away FOUR PAYING customers!) The two girls standing at the hostess stand were mortified. In disbelief, I asked one of the girls for their "manager's" name. She was afraid to tell me because she was so embarrassed. After a little coaxing, she finally said, "It's Mike." In closing, no employee, and certainly not one in a managerial position, should EVER treat a customer the way that Mike treated me tonight. I will NEVER go back to Station Eight based on the treatment that I received tonight from Mike. He is a hothead who clearly does not belong in a managerial position nor should he be dealing with people in the public in general. He is a terrible representative of the restaurant. I will discourage everyone I know from going to this restaurant.I used to be a regular but not any more.
