Puffers could be much better but it is what it is; the only true pond in Amherst. The views are beautiful, the trails are great for hiking and the water does it's job on a hot summer day. Tradition includes swimming across Puffers, jumping off the rocks (which is not allowed) and watching the waterfall.
Huge pro: FLOATATION DEVICES ARE ALLOWED
Fishing is allowed; no picnic tables or grills available.
Cons: students take over sometimes and act inappropriate; smoke/drink/play uncensored music while families try to hang with kids; people bringing dogs to the main beach and allowing them to run around when dogs are not allowed, dirty "sand" and smokers on the beach. Also no true bathroom just disgusting portapotty.
