Johnny takes his time cutting your hair, making it look nice, rather than getting it done quickly. He knows how to cut both thin and thick hair, and is probably one of the last 'old school' barbers in all of Boston. He is going to finish your cut with a hot shave to your side burns and the back of your neck, included in the price. You're going to step out of his chair feeling like a million bucks. If any of my friends ever ask me about where to get their haircut in Boston, I point them towards Modern Male and tell them it's worth the price and trip.
Speaking of price, it is steep. $35 for a 'short' cut. It is worth every penny. You only need to get your haircut once every 6-8 weeks, and a haircut by Johnny stays looking good well into week 8.
Modern Male is strictly appointment only, and you usually need to book at least 3 days in advance. Better to aim for 4-5 days in advance if it is the week before a holiday that people want to look nice for. The only time he takes walk-ins is if you get lucky and he has an opening that you're willing to wait for.
