Very disappointing experience. Ordered the NY Strip Steak - steak was so tough it was nearly impossible to stick a fork through it. Mashed potatoes were so dry they were falling apart and resembled a rice dish. What I did manage to eat caused me to feel nauseous shortly after. Service was mediocre at best; I let my girlfriend drink my water because the server didn't come through to refill her's until the meal actually arrived (despite being in the immediate vicinity of our table for the entirety of the 20 or so minutes it took for our food to arrive.) Have eaten at Johnny's Tavern in Amherst numerous times over the years without a bad word to speak, we figured the Johnny's in South Hadley would be worth a try. Never again!
It's good. It is called a bar and grill and that about sums it up. Not real fancy but nice. The food never wows but is enjoyable. Generally unimpressed with the beer and cocktails. Don't get the jalapeño margarita. So many other options 20 minutes away. Johnny's in Amherst is better.
