John C. Phillips WIldlife Sanctuary abuts Boxford State Forest and trails run through both parks. THe trails are well kept, however the blazes could be better market as well as trail-heads etc. Come for the birdwatching and multiple areas of beaver activity. There are at least 5 active dams by my count and they are a sight to see. BRING THE BUG SPRAY. The trails here are mainly understory, and therefore daylight doesn't seem to drive off the mosquitos. Do not go here on an anything but sunny day and expect to NOT be bitten. Keep and eye on ticks as well...
The loop i did was 6 miles...varying terrain but mainly flat
Make it happen!
