Greenwood Nursing & Rehab Center

My siblings and I never thought we'd place our mother in a nursing home, but here we are. It got to the point where we simply had no choice; she couldn't take care of herself and we lacked the ability to take care of her ourselves. Knowing how much she valued independence, I felt somewhat guilty about the decision, but, in just a short period of time, that guilt evaporated...completely. In just two weeks, my mother became totally immersed in her new setting. Greenwood is a house, with a large lawn and beautiful grounds, very similar to where my mother was living previously. They even gave her a plot of land to grow tomatoes and basil because they knew how much she loved to garden. It wasn't long before she was talking about Greenwood as "her" home. It's like one big happy family there, and the residents and staff get to know each very well; it's a very intimate environment. My mother is very comfortable. She's happy. It's been years since I've seen her laugh so loud. She is an eager participant in the daily activities, and enjoys the close friendships she has developed. Greenwood brought her back to life.
