Back in January of 2018, I did a lease buyout loan through DCU and boy oh boy was this a mistake. Applying for the loan online did not generate any response and I had to go into a branch in Lowell (nice staff here, no complaints) to even find out what the status was. Once I got the loan, DCU paid honda the buyout and began the process of transferring the title, and was told I had 90 days to register my car. 30 days pass and I hadn't heard from DCU in a while, so I check in on it and they said that the title had been sent to me VIA fedex. No fedex package was anywhere to be seen, so I ask them to send it again, but via USPS. DCU agrees. Another 30 days pass, I see nothing. I call again and DCU claimed that they couldn't process my request because it required Honda to initiate the title duplication process. Note, DCU didn't feel it necessary to call me at all to tell me this, they just sat around waiting for me to find this out. SOOO I call Honda, sit on a 3 way conference call with Honda on one end and DCU on the other and we come to, what we all understood and agreed on, was the process to get me my car title. Honda sent the information required on March 20th. Today, 22 days later, I call Honda to follow up to check on the status. After multiple phone calls and a grand total of an hour on DCU hold, we find out that DCU had confirmed receipt of the information sent on March 20th and did nothing with it because "DCU does not want to pay for the duplicate title". DCU again felt it unnecessary to call me to ask me to pay the $25 required. Instead, DCU sat on this and did nothing. Now, I am 8 days away from the 90 day requirement and will have to pay hundreds in car rentals and train tickets because my plates are going to be canceled. After sorting out a bypass to get what I need directly from honda, I call DCU today to find out what happened. I was on hold for half an hour and then was hung up on. DCU has been impossible to deal with. I would not recommend them to anyone, friend or foe, as dealing with DCU is a nightmare at best and purgatory at worst.
