I have taken boxing classes all over the city of Boston, and truly have enjoyed my experience at Back Bay Boxing! Although I am only two classes in I have made a commitment to myself to go at least once a week! If you can survive the warm up you can do anything! What makes this class so great is the small class numbers. no more than 15/16 people. This makes a huge difference and that attention to detail John has on coaching is great! Keeps you excited and engaged. The partner work is also very endearing! Everyone is friendly and helpful, especially for first timers. It's not a flashy gym, but the work and sweat is real and I recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge and to feel accomplished!

I’ve had a really hard time finding a gym/workout I actually enjoy and want to go back to... then I found Back Bay Boxing Gym and was immediately hooked. John, the owner/ trainer there is awesome—super friendly, gives a lot of individual coaching, and has built an incredible culture. Everyone is very welcoming and helpful, it’s all partner work and the more experienced folk help the newbies learn, so it’s easy to meet people and make new friends. John also hosts social events every once in awhile to foster a community outside of the gym. As far as workout goes, it’s super high energy with the typical workout being circuit training in the beginning followed by partner work where you’re either blocking or throwing punches with some bag time. It’s amazing how quickly you catch on and improve. It’s also really improved my long distance running. Across the board, this place is awesome. Icing on the cake is that you’re supporting a local business owner as he pursues his dreams and continually reinvests into the business v throwing money at a giant corporate gym.
